By the twelfth century, thanks to the Holy Crusades and the development of new trade routes, some cities in Europe had become so powerful that they had become city-states – so-called “sea republics” – and their influence stretched across the entire Mediterranean Sea. In Città-Stato, you represent a maritime republic with unique characteristics, and you must distinguish it by gaining greater commercial, martial, and political prestige while striving to develop and uphold republican values. A great score alone may not be enough to win if you can't keep the Republican nature! The mechanism at the heart of the game is building bags: you can acquire cubes and place them in your bag. In each round you draw several dice, which allow different actions depending on the number and color. The game lasts seven rounds, and in each round players can play actions until everyone has passed. Action cards expand the choices and players can discover many interesting combinations if they plan well!
